In February 2018 an impossible dream came true when I published my first eBook with Youth Specialties. If you know me at all, or better yet know how good my English writing skills are, you know that publishing a book was basically a pipe dream. Even then, it happened but for only about 45 days. Sadly, things at Youth Specialties changed and now all I had was a file on my computer, two drafts that were unpublished and no clue how I was ever going make my dream possible again.
I wasn’t upset so much as I was just sad. I found myself wondering what God was doing with me. Why open this door only to close it so fast? Questions such as, “did I do something wrong”, or “was it all a fluke?” started to flooded my mind. However, thanks to a timely conversation things were different this time.
In the spring I got a chance to have a quick coffee with the man who got this all started. God had once used Jacob to fix something in me that was broken. That fix came through all the writing and the creation of the first book. Once again, God used Jacob, not to repair something in me that was broken, but to remind me that … God had already fixed me.
Through Jacobs words of encouragement and advice, I found my way to a new publisher that saw what Jacob had first seen in me. We not only reproduced the first book, they quickly picked up and produced the other two. Needless to say, I’m excited. I’m excited for Pastors and Church Leaders to access resources I wish I had 18 years ago when I first started my book. More than that, I’m excited about the future. I don’t know what God is going to do but He is clearly laying the foundation for something. This year has taught me a lot about myself, who I am in Christ and who I want to be. I’m not saying that all my issues are solved, far from it actually. What I am saying is that for the first time in a long time I feel WHOLE and maybe that’s what God wanted all along.
